"Daughters" unexpectedly rises on charts

Mayer has recently released a new single of his latest album Heavier Things (2003), entitled "Come Back to bed", but "Daughters" was a close second. According to Airplay Monitor Magazine, issue no. 35 August 27, 2004, the song has entered the Modern AC Charts at #37, the 2nd most increase in airplay. To add to this, it also debuted at #35 on the Adult Top 40 Chart, with the most increase. At this rate, "Daughters", a thought provoking, value-filled song, may actually become a success. Although "Come Back to Bed" may demonstrate Mayer's incredible guitar skills; "Daughters" may be easier to relate with the general crowds. Two very different songs, both hit material.

A tabloid newspaper recently qouted singer JM as telling Esquire magazine "I've worn the same jeans every day since March" But a friend close to the lanky singer says the comment was taken out of context. John's qoute isn't from an interview, notes the pal, but rather from a humorous column the singer writes for the men's mag. In it, John has also claimed to have spent 1,700.00 on an action figure & 1,500.00 on phone sex! The singer's friend suggests that none of it should be taken very seriously.

MTV reports, "Those who caught some recent John Mayer shows may have encountered songs they didn't know by heart. Mayer has been road-testing tracks that may surface on the successor to last year's Heavier Things. He's also stressing the "writer" part of his omnipresent "singer/songwriter" descriptor with a monthly column for Esquire magazine, set to start with the June issue."

According to the offical Grammy website, "John Mayer and Pharrell Williams, along with actors Sean Astin and Amber Tamblyn, are the first presenters to be announced for the show, to be held on Sunday, Feb. 8 at Staples Center in Los Angeles and broadcast in HDTV and 5.1 Surround Sound on CBS at 8 p.m. The show also will be supported on radio via Westwood One worldwide and covered online at GRAMMY.com."

"Mayer showed how a USB keyboard attached to a Mac running GarageBand could produce realistic- sounding piano, guitar, percussion and horns. "This is the first time I've heard a guitar sound like a guitar on a keyboard," Mayer said. "You can hear string noise in there too." Read more here.
